Went to Ohayocon with Christina (aka
otakugirl09) this past Saturday and Sunday. Pictures WILL BE forthcoming (...probably). I know I always say that, but since I actually made Christina take all the pictures this year, I figure they're more likely to get uploaded (I'm lazier). There's some cool cosplays I want to fangirl over, but that'll come later.
Speaking of... I didn't cosplay this year, woe. Partly because I didn't know who to go as, but mostly because I wasn't even sure I'd get to go to the con, so I didn't bother making a costume. Maybe next year.
SO... The highlight of the con for me is always the dealer's room. I like collecting swag. Except I haven't really been into anime stuff for awhile, so my mission this year was to find anything superhero or Supernatural related and to buy it.
Not surprisingly, finding non-anime stuff at an anime convention is kinda hard. But I'm kind of relentless when it comes to my fandoms, so I did what I could and did end up finding a few things.
No pics, because I'm lazy. But what I did find was:
Fanart stickers of...
Supernatural: Dean/Cas, Sam, and Gabriel with Lucifer. Lawl.
X-Men First Class: Charles and Erik
The Avengers!!!!!!: Thor and Loki, Tony Stark (Iron Man), and Captain America
Teen Titans: Robin
Also, one of the vendors gave Christina and I free tins. Mine was a Batman one, hers was one shaped like a Playstation controller, lawl.
I also found LOTS of pins, which of course I bought even though I never do anything with them (I should really stick them on one of my purses or something).
About seven Supernatural pins (one of which says ASSBUTT and I wore the rest of the weekend), and three Young Justice pins ("Feelin' the aster", "Officially whelmed", and "I hacked the motion sensors". Also, I just now realized that these are all Robin-related quotes... lol, I love him).
The only other SPN-related thing I saw was some yaoi doujinshi. But all three of them were Sam/Dean, so I didn't buy any. Woe.
Anime stuff I bought includes three DBZ pins (Goku, Vegeta, and the Capsule Corp logo), and six tiny little Pokémon figurine things. I was constantly on the look-out for Yu-Gi-Oh stuff (aside from the cards) too, and several places had those new chibi YGO collectibles, but they were all so damn expensive, I didn't get any.
So that's about it. For once I ended up not spending all of the money I had set aside, which is actually a good thing, since I'm still unemployed. WOE.
Assuming I'm working by then (which I hope to God I am, or else) I want to go to Mid-Ohio Comic Con this September. I think it'll be more relevant to my current interests. :D I wish I could go to SDCC, but that's a dream that will probably never happen. *sobs* Oh well.
Also, I just remembered this, so I need to mention that we went to a panel with Greg Ayres and J. Michael Tatum (the voices of Frieza and Zarbon from DragonballZ, respectively), and that Michael Tatum is one of the most genuine, awesomest people I've ever seen. Seriously, the guy is hilarious and friendly and so sweet. Another highlight of the con, for me. :)
SO, ALL IN ALL IT WAS A PRETTY COOL WEEKEND. EVERYTHING IS KINDA JUMBLED IN MY HEAD DUE TO SLEEP DEPRIVATION, BUT THE GENERAL GIST OF THINGS WAS: WAIT IN LINE, DO STUFF, DEALER'S ROOM, WAIT IN LINE, DO STUFF, WALK AROUND, DEALER'S ROOM, WAIT IN LINE, DO STUFF, WALK AROUND, WALK AROUND, WALK AROUND, FOOD, DEALER'S ROOM, WAIT IN LINE, DO STUFF, ETC...
Now, I need cosplay ideas for next year...
