Hey, I've officially had my LJ for ten years (as of the 9th). I think I should get a permanent account as a reward. :)

Random fandom ramblings: )

Okay, that's all for now, LJ. See you again in 21 days (Avengers premiere day). Be prepared for incoherent capslocking.

Ugh, Vampire Diaries. Why must you torment me so?

Such a good episode (because season 3 is just awesome like that), but still pretty frustrating, because of reasons:

Random rablings. )

/thoughts

Also, just heard that House MD got canceled, to the surprise of no one. I'm still pretending that nothing after seasons 3 or 4 (depending on my mood) happened... with the exception of episode 6x11. I liked that one.

ETA: Oh my lord, Matt Davis is posting fanfiction on Twitter again:

The Law of Conservation of Energy by [info]peroxidepest17

(See also the amazing art done for this fic by [info]artmetica)

Novel-length Destiel fic (in which the Destiel is kinda subtle, but at the same time it's right there). I basically just fucked up my sleep schedule and starved myself by reading this. I COULDN'T STOP. NOT FOR ANYTHING.

Soooooo satisfying.

Meanwhile, the library book I've had checked out for over two months is still sitting around, un-read... lawl.

Went to Ohayocon with Christina (aka [info]otakugirl09) this past Saturday and Sunday. Pictures WILL BE forthcoming (...probably). I know I always say that, but since I actually made Christina take all the pictures this year, I figure they're more likely to get uploaded (I'm lazier). There's some cool cosplays I want to fangirl over, but that'll come later.

Speaking of... I didn't cosplay this year, woe. Partly because I didn't know who to go as, but mostly because I wasn't even sure I'd get to go to the con, so I didn't bother making a costume. Maybe next year.

SO... The highlight of the con for me is always the dealer's room. I like collecting swag. Except I haven't really been into anime stuff for awhile, so my mission this year was to find anything superhero or Supernatural related and to buy it.

Not surprisingly, finding non-anime stuff at an anime convention is kinda hard. But I'm kind of relentless when it comes to my fandoms, so I did what I could and did end up finding a few things.

No pics, because I'm lazy. But what I did find was:

Fanart stickers of...

Supernatural: Dean/Cas, Sam, and Gabriel with Lucifer. Lawl.
X-Men First Class: Charles and Erik
The Avengers!!!!!!: Thor and Loki, Tony Stark (Iron Man), and Captain America
Teen Titans: Robin

Also, one of the vendors gave Christina and I free tins. Mine was a Batman one, hers was one shaped like a Playstation controller, lawl.

I also found LOTS of pins, which of course I bought even though I never do anything with them (I should really stick them on one of my purses or something).

About seven Supernatural pins (one of which says ASSBUTT and I wore the rest of the weekend), and three Young Justice pins ("Feelin' the aster", "Officially whelmed", and "I hacked the motion sensors". Also, I just now realized that these are all Robin-related quotes... lol, I love him).

The only other SPN-related thing I saw was some yaoi doujinshi. But all three of them were Sam/Dean, so I didn't buy any. Woe.

Anime stuff I bought includes three DBZ pins (Goku, Vegeta, and the Capsule Corp logo), and six tiny little Pokémon figurine things. I was constantly on the look-out for Yu-Gi-Oh stuff (aside from the cards) too, and several places had those new chibi YGO collectibles, but they were all so damn expensive, I didn't get any.

So that's about it. For once I ended up not spending all of the money I had set aside, which is actually a good thing, since I'm still unemployed. WOE.

Assuming I'm working by then (which I hope to God I am, or else) I want to go to Mid-Ohio Comic Con this September. I think it'll be more relevant to my current interests. :D I wish I could go to SDCC, but that's a dream that will probably never happen. *sobs* Oh well.

Also, I just remembered this, so I need to mention that we went to a panel with Greg Ayres and J. Michael Tatum (the voices of Frieza and Zarbon from DragonballZ, respectively), and that Michael Tatum is one of the most genuine, awesomest people I've ever seen. Seriously, the guy is hilarious and friendly and so sweet. Another highlight of the con, for me. :)

SO, ALL IN ALL IT WAS A PRETTY COOL WEEKEND. EVERYTHING IS KINDA JUMBLED IN MY HEAD DUE TO SLEEP DEPRIVATION, BUT THE GENERAL GIST OF THINGS WAS: WAIT IN LINE, DO STUFF, DEALER'S ROOM, WAIT IN LINE, DO STUFF, WALK AROUND, DEALER'S ROOM, WAIT IN LINE, DO STUFF, WALK AROUND, WALK AROUND, WALK AROUND, FOOD, DEALER'S ROOM, WAIT IN LINE, DO STUFF, ETC...

Now, I need cosplay ideas for next year...

Iron Man 2 is a horrible movie and should be stricken from the record, immediately. I wish they could just do it over and find a better writer this time because seriously, what the actual fuck. It's just awful. (And the novelization is WORSE. That thing is seriously the definition of a 'clusterfuck'. Afkajfdkjf.)

This movie took all of the emotion that was in Iron Man 1 and basically replaced it with a shitty story and a ton of robot fight scenes and explosions. (IM1 had fight scenes and explosions too, naturally, but IT WAS GOOD.)

The entire movie honestly feels like it was cut and pasted together from a mish-mash of ideas, a feeling that's only amplified if you read the IM2 novelization (which you should only do after seeing the movie first; it's less confusing that way). The author was obviously working from an incomplete/first draft of the screenplay, because there's some big differences.

All that aside, I still... like it, I guess. In the sense that some people "like" the Star Wars prequels. You know what I'm saying? (Okay, it had its good moments. Like ~the kiss~. I'm a shipper, so that was good. ♥)

In other news... Avengers in a little over five months. I AM EXCITE.

I'm 'bout to go watch Iron Man for like the fourth time this month (I'm getting ready for The Avengers, you see). I watched Captain America again two weeks ago. I'll probably watch Thor this weekend. Skipping The Incredible Hulk, because I'm sad about Ed Norton not being in Avengers (old news, boo hoo). I re-watched Iron Man 2 last week and have been stewing over how not-good it is in comparison to the first movie, hence this post.

MOVE ALONG.
